The Poop on Golden Retriever Puppies

The Potomac Valley Golden Retriever Club provides, as a public service, information about Golden Retriever puppies in the form of a booklet, fondly called "All the Poop On Puppies".  Sections in this short booklet include:

  • Is the Golden Retriever the right dog for you?
  • Adult or Puppy?
  • Selecting a Breeder
  • Hereditary Problems
  • Owning a Golden
  • References for More Information
  • Links to sample OFA and CERF Certifications

Download this useful booklet, All the Poop on Puppies, consider adoption by contacting Golden Retriever Rescue  http://www.grreat.org/  or contact PVGRC's Puppy Referral service puppies@pvgrc.org for referral to reputable breeders.

Note:  AKC registration simply means the sire and dam of your Golden Retriever are the same breed.  It does NOT guarantee health, temperament, structural soundness or breeding quality.

If you are acquiring a new puppy, consider enrolling them in the Morris Animal Foundation’s Golden Retriever Lifetime Study.  This study tracks volunteer dogs’ health for life in order to gain insights into preventing and treating cancer and other canine diseases.  Details about this program and how to enroll can be found on the Morris Foundation website:
